Do you buy jewelry and gemstones from customers?
Not at this time.

Do you buy gold from customers?
We do not offer cash for gold.
We offer gold scrap value for store credit. Store credit can be used to pay for purchases or any of our services. 

Do you repair watches and clocks?
We do not, but we can recommend a local expert who may be able to help.
We can change most watch batteries.

How long should my newly-installed watch battery last?
All watch batteries that are purchased from and installed at K.Jons are guaranteed for 1 year.

Do you do ring sizing and repairs?
Absolutely! We have an in-house jeweler's shop with a full-time Master Jeweler with over 40 years of professional experience. From ring sizing to all manner of jewelry repairs, as well as custom manufacturing,
our jeweler is an expert artisan.

Can I get an estimate for a ring sizing or repair over the phone?
Simple answer is No. There are too many microscopic elements that we must assess before even a very general estimate can be made. Many rings and other jewels simply cannot be resized based on their design and/or the manner in which your gemstones may be set. To arrive at an estimate, we need to examine all gemstones and the integrity of their settings; determine if and how any accent stones may be affected by sizing; take numerous micro measurements of the item; determine how much gold or platinum is needed; and the list goes on!
Your precious jewels are small and require meticulous attention to detail, therefore a useful estimate
over the phone is not possible.

How long do repairs typically take?
We generally quote 2-3 weeks, however, many repairs are finished sooner. If your repair is likely to require more time,
or if our shop is especially busy, we will let you know while you are in the store.

Can you restore my favorite piece of jewelry?

With a Master Jeweler on staff who has over 40 years of experience, the chances are great that he possess the expertise and skills required to restore your favorite item.  Please note that while most jewelry can be restored, restoration may not always be possible.  Our jeweler will provide his best recommendation. 

Do you do appraisals?
We do! We are the only jewelry store between Carmel-by-the-Sea and Ventura to have a full-time, in-house Certified Jewelry Appraiser. Our appraiser is a GIA Graduate Gemologist, Certified Member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers, and holds a Master's degree in the History of Decorative Arts and Design with a concentration in the History of Jewelry.  We offer a full range of appraisal options that can be found here

How long do official jewelry appraisals take and do I need to leave my valuables at K.Jons?
All official appraisals are completed in-house and in the order in which they are received. Most appraisals are completed within 2 weeks, if not sooner. If extra research on an item is necessary, an appraisal may require a few more days. Your jewelry is fully insured while in our possession and is kept in a secure bank-style vault. As with the majority of appraisal service providers, you may need to leave your item with K.Jons until the appraisal is complete. 

Can I get a reprint of an old appraisal completed by the previous K.Jons store?
We have appraisal records from the former K.Jons Diamonds & Gems store owners going back several years, therefore we might be able to provide updates for your previously appraised items. If you had an appraisal done by the old K.Jons store between 2010 and 2019, please call to find out if we have a record of your previous appraisal. 
K.Jons Jewelry Co.'s current policy is to keep copies of appraisals and support materials for 7 years.

K.Jons Jewelry Co.'s current policy is to keep copies of appraisals and support materials for 7 years.
After 7 years, the records are destroyed.

How long is my appraisal good for?
Appraisals are generally accepted by insurance companies for 3 to 5 years from the appraisal date. Your insurance company likely has a rider requiring that your appraisals be updated according to a prescribed schedule. Check with your insurance provider to determine your appraisal schedule. The customer is responsible for maintaining an appraisal update schedule and it is not the responsibility of K.Jons Jewelry Co. or our appraiser
to notify you of market changes.

How do I insure my precious jewelry?
There are a variety of avenues that people take to insure their fine jewelry. Many people opt to insure through their homeowner's insurance policy, which may be the best option for you. We highly recommend Jeweler's Mutual Insurance because, in the event of a loss or damage, they allow you to choose your own trusted jeweler, whereas some homeowner's policies require you to go to a jeweler with whom they have a contract. Knowing that your jewels are in safe, expert hands is critically important to us and we know it is for our customers as well.

Do you offer custom jewelry design?
We sure do!  In fact, custom design is one of our specialties!  Whether you have a fully-formed vision or you need one of our designers to work with you to flesh out the first glimmer of an idea, we are here to bring the jewel of your dreams to life.

Can I request to work with a particular K.Jons designer?
Yes you may! Your designer of choice may need to confirm their availability. Please call K.Jons to inquire.

Can you source a specific gemstone for me?
Yes we can! We attend the world's largest and most spectacular gem and jewelry shows each year where we spend a considerable amount of time shopping for customers' special requests. We also have professional associations, including jewelry industry friends and colleagues all over the world, who deal in every kind of gemstone. Whether you are looking to replace a lost gemstone or you are interested in having a brand new custom design created, we have the resources to find what you are looking for. 

What is your warranty policy for jewelry purchased at K.Jons?
All K.Jons jewelry is guaranteed for 1 year from the date of purchase.

What is your return policy?
Customers have 2 weeks from the date of purchase to return an item for a full refund.  
Exceptions apply: NO returns on custom items and special orders. 
A restocking fee may be required.

Do you engrave jewelry and other objects?
We only engrave jewelry and objects that have been purchased from K.Jons.

Do you offer financing?
No, however we do offer layaway.  
Items under $5000: we require 1/2 down and 3 months to pay.
Items over $5000: we require 1/3 down and 4 months to pay.

I have a crystal or faceted gemstone, but I don't know what it is.  Can K.Jons identify it for me?
Yes we can! With three GIA Graduate Gemologists on staff, we have the knowledge and gemological laboratory equipment necessary to complete a Stone ID according to GIA standards.

Are you affiliated with Kay Jewelers?
Absolutely NOT!  We are not affiliated in any way. We have always been an independent jewelry store, and have served this community for over 40 years. We are a Fine Jewelry store, therefore we specialize in exceptional gemstones and jewelry of the highest quality.
Our store is named after Kay and Jon Sherwin, the parents of the original K.Jons owners.
